Music for Special Needs

The IMH is proud to offer one-one-one musical instruction and classes for children and adults with Special Needs. Our approach to music has a remarkable potential to help with a wide range of disabilities including:

  • ADHD
  • Learning difficulties
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Emotional/Behavorial Challenges
  • Cognitive challenges
  • Physical impairments

The range of Special Needs is vast, but we take pride in adapting our programs to the particular requirements and musical experience of a child or adult . Our faculty consists of experienced teachers who are not only highly qualified musicians, but also have particular training and expertise in working in the field.

Our method is designed to be fun as well as rewarding, and to nurture the student’s natural love of music. The focus is less on music as a skill, more as a means of releasing his/her inner creativity. We encourage the student to treat music not just as entertainment, but as a means for personal development.

Our unique approach to teaching music is based on principles and techniques developed by John Diamond M.D. As a medical doctor, psychiatrist, musician, best-selling author of over 20 books, Dr. Diamond is widely acknowledged as the leading authority in the field of music and health. His pioneering research has shown how music can be taught in ways that greatly benefit those with special needs.
